Help I.D This Bird I shot Today

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Anthony747, Jun 10, 2005.

  1. Hi All! Shot this bird today but I'm not sure what it is. According to my bird book its either the Lesser Yellowlegs or the Greater Yellowlegs.

Thanks helping me solve my Yellowlegs mystery!

My guess would be a Willet based on the first shot.

  6. Very funny Gale! Its actually called Catoptrophorus semipalmatus so you got the "us" part correct :)

  7. dmwphoto, You are correct...good call! I looked up the Willet in my "Birds of North America" and there he is on page 179. The author writes "The Willet looks boring until it flies, showing off spectacular wings." which was what caught my eyes and started shooting him.

    Thanks, Anthony
