I have another portrait shoot tommorow and I was testing a new lighting setup on my daughter. Forget the pose, hair, and all that other stuff. I need opinions on the lighting setup. The lady I will be shooting is older so I am trying to keep the light soft. To me it looks like the hair light needs to come forward just a bit and not as hot. Whats else needs to be changed? Thanks.

    Never mind.

I changed the lighting setup again. Much happier now.

A person can learn a lot about themselves by doing self potraits.

I will stick to shooting my family and leave me out of the photos.

    Thanks Paul.

I actually went 180 degrees from the way this was setup. Much happier with it now. I understand about the fine tuning. This will be new for me as I mainly shoot kids, and not only mine.

I have read Chuck's info, and agree that he has a good eye but I also think he is stuck on just a few lighting patterns.

I will never post my self portraits from tonight. The internet would crash and monitors would explode. The life I save by not posting it may be yours.

    Dave,

I was in a nasty car accident a few years ago and some scars never go away.

  7. Looking at the catch lights in her eyes, it looks like you have an umbrella pointed at from the front? Is that right?

How many lights do you have?
