Heron scared away - by a duck !

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Mattes, Jun 8, 2007.

  1. Hello.

This heron tries to land in a small lake, but a duck was not amused by this close distance, so it scares the heron away.

Quite rare situation, I guess. I hope, you enjoy my captures.

    C&C is welcome.

    Regards

  2. I see TWO ducklings in the first of your photographs and with a little imagination it would not take a lot of effort to think the heron was after the babies. I notice the two drakes have a "so what" attitude, but it is momma-duck that is "slamming" the GBH.

    Way to go Momma!

    Great series!

  3. Great captures, Mattes. That heron wasn't landing, he was HUNTING ducklings! Good for that momma duck

  4. WOW! Talk about exciting action shots~! Glad that Momma was on the alert too! Daddy duck? Well, hope he gets a good fussing from Momma Duck!

    Nice action shots Mattes.

Nick, that's almost certainly what the heron was doing. Good observation.

Great wildlife series. I'm sure the BH was thinking "duckling for lunch".
