I've known about this little tiny pond for some time as it's directly behind the parking lot of a restaurant we like to eat at frequently....I just never checked it out until today..

    Early light Green Heron...

    NIKON D2X    ---    700mm    f/8.0    1/320s    ISO 400

A little while later I found this guy back in the shdows at quite a distance...

    NIKON D2X    ---    700mm    f/8.0    1/640s    ISO 320

Then as I was about to leave, I found this black crowned, snoozing on and off and rocking back and forth, in and out of the shade and sun...
    NIKON D2X    ---    700mm    f/7.1    1/1000s    ISO 200

And lastly, while not exactly a heron, the Eastern Kingbird sat and took a rest nearby after I watched him consume about a half dozen really large dragonflies...
