  1. I'm back.

We left Ottawa this morning and just got in. Carolyn and I got a real kick out of Yves' and Frits posts! I'm not sure Yves or Frits told anything about our day's shoot but first we saw a demonstration. Then while walking around the old city and port we witnessed a pub on fire and the emergency crews arrived with sirens blazing. Frits yelled "Oh boy..some money photos!" Then he and Yves left me in the dust to get the best shots of the incident. Finally when the four of us were chilling out at an outdoor cafe at the end of this exhausting shoot  we witnessed a robbery not fifteen feet from our table. None of us were quick enough to photograph the incident. I was in Montreal less than 24 hours and had seen just about everything! Two finer gentlemen I have never met. Carolyn and I will never forget the thrills, chills and laughter we shared that day in Montreal.

We visited Ottawa (twice), Montreal, as you all know, Quebec City, and Niagara Falls (or at least I visited the falls...Carolyn said "Oh neat....I'll be in the Casino at the slots...you shoot your butt off. Come back when you're out of CF cards").

More details and pictures after I crash tonight, EH?

  2. Great post. I will look forward to more. Welcome Back Rich.
  3. Hi Rich,

I'm glad to know you've been welcomed by 2 great members... I wish I met you also. Next time probably :)

I hope you liked your visit.
  4. Thank you. The wife and I had a spectacular time! I have found to both my delight and shame that some preconceptions I had about Canadians were horribly wrong. Everywhere I went, whether to Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City I met the friendliest and most easy going group of people one could wish for.

Carolyn and I will definitely go back again soon. (well, maybe not Niagara Falls..I took 300 pictures of them!) Additionally we decided to skip Nova Scotia because of the cold (and VERY wet!) weather. We'll go to NS in early July in the year and fly there and rent a car; the drive to and back is just too long.

We've just touched the surface of Ontario and Quebec. Next time, though I'll have learned some French.

Perhaps we can put together a "Canadian" shoot next year...eh?

  5. Welcome back, Rich! You've been missed.

Plus, I'm leaving town from tomorrow morning until Monday afternoon, so you can pick up the slack ;-).

My son's getting married in Morro Bay on Saturday. I'm not the photographer for his wedding, but I'm hoping to catch a few shots anyway.
  6. Glad you had such a great time. It looks like a VAST country from this island. I am off to France next Wednesday for a month, and I am really looking forward to the break.

  7. Welcome back to Nikon Cafe

I don't think we told the stories, we figured you were going to do so and to top it off, the same day we spent the four of us, I did witness a serious car accident 5 miles from downtown ... Montreal is a very quiet city ...

Felt like a mini NYC that day ...

Hope you can make it back again soon, Fall season is exquisite here ...

Best regards to you and Carolyn ...
  8. We Canadians like to pack a lot of excitement in the tourists' trips! *LOL* Glad to hear you had a good time, and very glad to hear about your warm reception wherever you went. Come on back anytime!
  9. Good to see you and Carolyn made it back safely.
We sure had a nice time, except for some pretty chilly weather!

Welcome back Rich. Glad you had a great time.

We're still waiting for our permanent residency to be processed so we can move to Canada. :)
