I want to make a joke about how you didn't get any separation of your subject from its background. But that would be really lame. Lol!

Nice find and shot. Imagine how many other trees you walk by that are hiding these treasures.
Thank you. I've walked this area almost every day for the last two years. You get to know the trees and everything else; all the old snags, holes, cracks and seams. With a GHO nesting, there is sure to be a mate close by. Most other owls have probably moved a bit further away. GHOs are the top bird predators in the area and will take smaller owls if they can.
A good lesson for anyone who watches or shoots wildlife. Nicely done.
