I've got a D700. Can anyone tell me how to shoot in jpg format with a high resolution of 300 dpi? All I seem to get is 72 dpi.

Basically you'd need to change that within Photoshop or whatever image editing app you're using.

The image size for the D700 is 4,256 x 2,832 regardless of the dpi embedded within the file. The only effect that dpi has is how large the image will display within an application (e.g. Photoshop or inDesign).

I'm confused. If I shoot in tiff the files are 300 dpi on photoshop. If I open photoshop, images are 72 dpi. If I change the dpi to 300 then images are blurred

When resizing in Photoshop you need to uncheck the "Resample Image" box before you change the DPI from 72 to 300. This will preserve the original image pixel dimensions.

What's happening for you now is that Photoshop is converting the 72dpi, 4256x2832 image into 17733x11800 300 dpi image

Make sure "resample image" is unchecked when changing resolution. Otherwise Photoshop will keep the print size the same and adjust the pixel size to give you the desired resolution.
