I just got through shooting 3 VB games; freshman, JV, Varsity.

I was using my D7200, DX camera.

I was experimenting with the 70-200/4. It worked great from on top of the bleachers. But it was just too long on the court floor, from the wall behind the end line to the net, the frame was too tight. But the zoom ring was oh so much nicer than my other zooms.
I think the Nikon 24-120 would be a better lens on the court floor, with a DX camera.
The Tamron 35-150 would probably be the lens for a FX camera.

My other lenses were the 35/1.8 and 50/1.8. These are my standard lenses for volleyball and basketball, primarily for the larger aperture. Though the issue with a prime is, a third of the time, I have the wrong lens on the camera; too short or too long.
