    Hi Folks,

I am off with my wife and 3 children to Spain next week for our hols. (not our honeymoon we plan to go away on our own later in the year)

I have a dilemma, i am unsure which lenses to take away with me,

I will be takening my D2hs and a sb-800 but i am unsure which lenses to take, i didnt have the 17-55 when i went away before and i took the 24-120 and the 70-200, now i have the 17-55 i cant decide!

Given how bright it is in spain and the ease of use i am tempted to take the 24-120 and the 70-200?

I dunno, i cant decide! Please help! :)

    Hello James,

The choice is quite easy in my estimation. You definately need a wide angle lens plus a lens for longer reach. The 24-120mm is an ideal walk-around lens, but not long enough for for distant shots, so the 70-200mm has to go as well. If room in your luggage isn't an issue, I would recommend bringing the 17-55mm as well for landscapes.

It is better to bring it all and not use it all, than to leave something home and wish that you had it.

Cheers Frank, i`ll be packing them all then! I am sure there's room in my Lowe Pro Mini Trekker AW!

Just got myself a Nikon Cir-Pol II 77mm lookign forward to using it.

In fact i am looking forward to my hols in general! When i get back i am working a new shift system, the first change in our shifts in 25 yrs! 7am start! eeek

James I was going to say take all 3.. But if I didn't have the room I would take the 17-55 and the 70-200.

Thanks for that, hoepfully will be able to pack them all in, its just the UK airlines are really "picky" about how much you take on as hand luggage, especially with our budget airlines!

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I've always followed the phrase - "It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have" -when it comes to what I take for shooting pictures. Take all 3 if you have room!
  7. I took my 17-55mm and 70-200 when I went to Italy. My 17-55mm definitely got the biggest workout.

I agree. The missing 15 mm can be covered by "foot-focus" :D

Also a vote for the 17-55mm and the 70-200mm. Now if you said you only wanted to take ONE lens, then I would say the 24-120mm.

James, Spain is not always bright :)  There are some shadows - especially if you are going to shoot in Red Castle or something like that. Twilight and sunsets happen in Spain, too. Tripod is a must. 70-200 might need some help from a teleconverter.

Thanks Iliah, decided not to take my tripod. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny!
