My annual fly fishing trip turned into as much a photography trip as a fishing one. I had plenty of time for doing both fishing and photography but I think I found more things to shoot than fish to catch. While driving out though the country side looking for quail I finally spotted one sitting on a fence post, so I turned around and pulled to the side of the road and poked my 600mm out the window. Expecting to see just the quail I was quite surprised at what I was looking at, a pair of Flicker Woodpeckers had made a nest/home right where the quail was sitting.
For the next four days I was back at this location early in the morning and was presented with different shooting scenes every morning. Here's a few of the shots I was able to get.

I see a lot of bird photography around the various Forums, but these stand out.
I appreciate it, thank you.
These photos are some of the most interesting and informative I've ever seen of birds. Exceptionally well done.
