    Hi There,

I've just acquired this lens. It came with caps but without hood. What Nikon hood fits this lens?

    HB-1 hood.
  3. You can use an HB-15 or HB-26 (from the 70-300G and 70-300AF D respectively) on a cropped sensor body. It's quite a bit deeper than the HB-1, but won't vignette. I have the HB-26 and it works great. (Looks good too.)

what Brian said ...i use the hb-15 but think the 26 is prolly even better...it's just a tiny bit longer and as far as i'm aware no vignetteing ....;-)

Confirmed. No vignetting with the HB-26 as long as it's used on a DX body. It's a coin toss between the 15 and 26 but I recommend either one over the HB-1.

I use the 15 and it works good. Either one mentioned will work fine.
Don't waste your money on the HB-1. If you really want one I have one that has never been used.
