I came home for lunch on thursday and played around with the new 105VR I picked up recently. Found this guy in the garden. Handheld with the D200/105VR.

Great shot Tony, Funny thing ...I was just shooting a "paper wasp" this weekend also with my new 105VR and I will be posting them later today. I have been stung by them a number of times but this weekend I got my first glimpse into what they really look like close up, they have quite mean looking eyes as you can see on your shot too.

Nice shot. It's not a hornet, though, but a Paper Wasp (genus Polistes).
I don't know why hornets have such a bad reputation. Compared to the aggression potential of paper wasps, hornets are harmless.

Cheers
