I created a thread with at least some of these photos 13 years ago but the links to the images are now broken, making it impossible to view them. Karen and I had a brief discussion recently that reminded me of the thread, so I'm using this new thread to revisit the photos and the experience.

My wife and I read as we prepared for our trip in May 2008 that Cappadocia, Turkey was one of the top five places in the world to enjoy a balloon ride. That's because of the combination of ideal weather conditions and drop-dead gorgeous scenery. This balloon ride -- our one and only ride -- was so spectacular that we're hesitant to go on another one for fear that it will be at least anticlamactic if not less enjoyable.

All photos except the first one were taken from a gondola while in flight.

My wife reminds me that we did our ride over Cappadocia on Easter Sunday.

She also said that we never need to take another as it can't be topped.

The D80 was my first DSLR - shows you what can be done with any camera with the right settings and user! Would love to make the trip and ride in a balloon, but only at a "safe" height!
