any tips? I've been asked to come shoot their house (very nice house) and barn area.

what's normal to charge? by the hour or by the room?

Ask them if they've had any other quotes for the job,if they tell you the prices they've been quoted you'll have a base line to work from.If they dont tell you ,give them a price that would pay for an expensive meal for two.:biggrin:
