How does LR read/write to the HD?

OWC just came out with their new 6Gb/s SSDs (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Mercury_Extreme_Pro_6G) and it made me wonder how LR reads and writes to the hard drive... Does it do it more in 4k blocks?

I'm asking because I want to know what benchmark tests I should be referring to when looking at SSDs...
