I bought a
  • D850 with grip
  • D500 with grip (non Nikon)
  • a 500mm F5.6 PF
  • forgot to mention a used 600mm F4 VR
  • and a couple of weeks ago a used 70-200mm F4, but that doesn't really count

There is a learning in all of this.....

after 14 years of buying and shooting DSLRs, my 1st was a D50, I'm done. It's very hard to get me to buy anything anymore because what I have is great. Last year I changed my everyday setup and got a 16-80, kills my 24-120, so I'm happy. I also got a 500pf last year, it changed a lot, my 500e sits at home.
So message to Nikon, where's the D6 and how about a 600pf

Brand New D7200
an AF-P 18-55 lens
Not a Nikon but for the D7200; a tokina 11-16 f 2.8
2 x Nikon Coolpix S33
3 x Nikon Coolpix (L28 to L30)
a Nikon D3200
a Nikon D40
a Nikon D50
oh, and a tripod a Vanguard Alta Pro 2 263CV with a great PH 32 head.

Traded in Nikon 1v1 with 3 lenses, flash, batteries and FT1.
Traded in D7000.

I am probably forgetting a few things...
But next one is either going to be a D500, a D750 or maybe a D850.

D6 + 24-70/4 +FTZ, all used from the FM forum. I think that's it.

Oh, I did get my wife a like-new D5500 from MPB.com. I purchased it in late 2018 but didn't actually get it until early 2019.

Yes, you were too busy using your gear to be out buying more gear! LOL!
That's true...I did purchase the D850 a couple of years ago, but haven't bought any new lenses in the last six or seven years. And, I'm still using a Photoshop version (CS5) from at least 7 years ago on a laptop from 2011!

Some of that is about the change. I'll be reluctantly moving to the cloud in the next few months. And, over the next few years I'll be migrating to mirrorless.

You will enjoy the latest PS offerings. But you don't have to use the cloud storage, etc unless you want to. Thought I must admit, most of the "enchancements" are not necessary for us "most of the time".

None.
But on the fence about an upgrade from DX to FX; D750 + 24-120 or a Z6 + 24-70/4 or even a D810 + ?
The Black Friday price of $1500 for a D750 + 24-120 is VERY tempting.
But not as my primary system but as a secondary "larger format" system to m4/3, so not keen on dumping a lot of $$$$ here.

None.

I didn't buy any photography hardware this year. I upgraded my photo cataloging software from the version that was two versions earlier. I upgraded the Nik Collection from its previous version. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other photography purchases I made this year. However, some software that would be fun to use for my tabletop photography is on my Christmas list.

Oops! I just now realized that I did buy some photography hardware: some plastic thingies for hanging backgrounds on my boom in my makeshift studio at a total cost of less than $10.
