Have you a good brand for less money for the Nikon MB-D18 that works great and just the same?

thank you.
This is what I use with my D850, works like a charm. For you to get the grip to work properly and to get the 9fps you need to connect the grip to the camera first while the camera is OFF, then insert the battery into the grip with the battery door attachment and fully lock it, turn camera on, and everything will function as it should.
When you want to charge the battery, remove it and place it in the charger, before inserting back into the battery grip, disconnect the grip from the camera and reconnect it, following the initial instructions above, hope this helps.

Looks like the battery door is no longer available on Amazon, but you might be able to find it elsewhere.

Since I just got a D850 w/grip and I'm getting 9fps, here's what I'm using.

Vello BG-N19-2* + Watson EN-EL18C Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (10.8V, 3350mAh) + Nikon BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover

$99.95 + $99.00 + $24.95 = $223.90

*It should be noted that if you're going to get the Vello grip make sure it's the Mark 2 (BG-N19-2); the original does not support 9fps.

No the previous version does do 9fps, I had one originally. I had other issues with it though (see above) but the second version is awesome. Much more cost effective than OEM (y).
According to Vello the original is only spec'ed deliver 7fps with the EN-EL18b and "the grip has not been tested to accommodate 9 fps."

While I have no doubt you did get 9fps out of the original a lot of people didn't, which was on reason they released the "-2"

No I was definitely getting 9fps from the v1, my issue was intermittent contact with the battery door. I wound up propping the door with a piece of rubber band but when the v2 came available I tried it and problem solved. Plus the v2 is tackier and overall feels better.
