How to use SB600

Discussion in 'General Technical Discussion' started by photoloco, Apr 27, 2007.

  1. So I just bought an SB600 Nikon Speed light. I read the manual first to learn how it works. I have to tell you, reading the manual has really got me scratching my head. Here are some of my questions;
    1. Do I always have to set zoom to match the lens
    2. How do I determine what f stop to use
    3. How do I determine what shutter speed
    4. How far can I reach for instance, a dimly lit auditorium
    They do give me a chart for determing f stop, but it is hard to understand.
    I guess I'm looking for basic general advice.
    I will say this, I mounted it, set it for TTL, took a picture in a low lit bedroom and the result was outstanding! Imagine how it will work when I learn how to use it properly!
