Thats a nice hummer experience, getting close when there only a six inches from your face is just amazing the sound they make and there so tiny, every one should try it, it usually happens to me by accident I will be filling he feeder or postitioning it for pictures and they will come in as long as you freeze they will take a look at you and if they don't see any movement they will come right in even if your hands are on the feeder and the spout is pointing towards you.
