Hummingbird at Feeder

[McQ]

Nothing spectacular, but it's been too long since I posted in the bird forum, so here are two hummers from the other day. We don't get as many as we used to. I need to plant some more flowers that attract them. One feeder isn't cutting it to bring them in.

D500, 200-500mm Nikkor. First is at 1/3200 sec and the second is at 1/500 sec, just to impart some motion.

Thanks. Yeah, my neighbors have more feeders and better plants that attract them. Maybe I should just sit in their yards and shoot. Lol!

Nicely done, good light too. I've read that a second feeder will avoid hummers getting possessive and getting into fights at feeders. I've also read that having flowering plants and other shrubbery around will attract and retain 'em.

That sounds like internet propaganda put out by hummingbirds to get more feeders!

We put out three feeders at different locations in the front, side and back yards and they still fight over them! But, on the other hand it can be really interesting to watch them go at it, those tiny little birds zooming around like fighter jets!

We had a second feeder but that didn’t stop any territorial disputes. Those guys are rough and numerous times delivered smackowns that were quite loud wen they hit the deck.
