With the recent passing of Hurricane Sandy's anniversary, I remembered this photo I took of "Tropical Storm Sandy" as it hit our local beach. The end of the pier was broken away, and Fort Lauderdale lost no less than 20-30 feet of their beach.

very powerful image ... We were evacuated 4pm on the Sunday before the storm last year from our home on the barrier island, the waves were unreal and it was over a day away from hitting us
our summer home was deemed unihabitable after the storm at the Jersey Shore (4+ feet of water/sewerage/oil/chemicals inside), it sits with the rest of our communities homes waiting to be knocked down, all utilities disconnected and asbestos siding removed last month.
I tried to stay away from all of the TV shows replaying all of the imagery from the days after, still hard to see.

they say photographs bring emotion.. this one certainly did, very well done
