I had the 17-35 and 28-70.... added the 17-55. I then sold the Beast... and got a great offer on the 17-35.

The Beast and the 17-35 are both GONE!!!!

Im left with the 17-55 on the wide end and the 70-200 VR on the long end.... plus a bundle of cash.

    YIKES!!!

Cash causes major problems for many people. I have a disposal service that I'm willing to offer to you.

Don, I think you some some very good glass there, I have the same except I have the 35 f/2 and just got the 85 1.8. If you have more cash than you know what to do with, I'll send you my address.

    Have a good day,
    Phil........

Thanks Guys... I think my wife already spent it!!:wink:

  6. Looks like you're in a great position should Nikon announce a new and improved replacement for the 28-70.

    I've been getting along pretty will with the 17-55 / 70-200 combo. It's a
pretty small gap between the two - usually nothing that foot zooming can't fix.

    Don,

    I like your choices!!

You have the same combination I shoot and use the most frequently. I carried the 17-55/2.8 on the D200 simultaneously with the 70-200/2.8 on the D2X at Alcatraz, Castro, and Haight 2 weeks ago. Fast glass, and covers most opportunities very nicely! (I am still chuckling about the comments last night about the 17-55 not being light...) .

(I still have the 28-70, which I seldom use - not ready to let it go yet, but that day is fast approaching).

  8. I've been shooting with that pair (17-55 + 70-200) for over 3 years now and have yet to have an UH OH moment. They just get the job done. Strangely, the only area where I have been coming up wanting lately -- and it's been pretty regular -- is needing something wider. There may be a 12-24 (or 10-20) in my very near future.

John... You and I think too much alike!!  Maybe we are long lost relatives...:smile:

As to th the 17-55's weight... geez... I agree with you. Like a feather. Try carrying around the 200-400 for a while.:wink:

I have all three, the 28-70 being my last acquisition..I believe I like the 17-55 better..but time will tell....unless time stops talking.
