the price got so low I had to try one. I ordered the Z6 and FTZ adaptor only, no glass. My plan is to shoot the 500pf on the z6 for the silent shutter in my backyard. A silent shutter will change everything. From 1-2 opps on a perched bird it will be 8-10 if it stays quiet. My birds are very close, a mockingbird will fill the frame.
Eventually I want to get a general purpose native zoom and make this my travel setup (it's a D500 + 16-80 now)

Anybody else buy a Z6 with no native lenses ?

Congratulations on the new camera. I'll be curious to hear what you think of it after you've used it a few times. Especially with the electronic vf. It's a great deal, but only if you use it.

It was too good a deal for me to not get the 24-70/4S.

Other than that I was shooting f-mount 50/1.8, 85/1.8, 300/4 E AF-P and the 70-3004.5-5.6E AF-P on the Z6.

I thought of that but I never liked that range

Valid reason.

I liked the Z version so much I actually sold the f-mount 24-70/2.8 after getting it. I actually like the 70mm and longer lengths more. I'm very interested in the new Z 24-200mm.

I would have considered this if Covid hadn’t messed up everything

welcome to this club! I bought the bundle with the 24 - 70 during the fall sale. Very happy with the kit lens for travel. Been debating adding the 14-30 native when we can travel. Had a trip to Ireland in May but......

Try the 70-200 E on the adaptor too.

Congratulations Randy!

From my limited use of the Z bodies, I prefer to use native lenses with them. I'm not sure what it is, but I find using the FTZ adapter, particularly with macro lenses, the images just don't appear to have the same quality. No perceived issues with images using the same lenses on DSLR's. There is probably nothing in it, possibly just mind over matter :)

Randy..I bought the Z6 awhile ago with the adapter and the native 24-70 f/4 lens. Don't discount this lens too quickly I've found it to be a great lens comparable to the older f mount 24-70f/2.8 taking inconsiderate of the extra light stops you get with the 2.8. Also, I am very pleased with he other native s lenses. the 50 f 1.8 and 85 f 1.8 are stellar and have their own particular uses. the 500 pf and 300 pf as well as the 70-200 f 2.8 E lens all work areat with the adapter on the Z6.

I only have one macro lens, the Tamron 90mm, but I haven't noticed any difference in image quality when using it on my Z6+FTZ compared to using it on my D7000.

Its something I can't quite figure out. I have one lens in both mounts, and the native mount one is IMO, much nicer to use on the Z bodies. I also prefer the images from it compared to using the F mount one with the FTZ adapter. Could quite easily be placebo effect.
