I'd add that "if" you get an exemplary copy, it's better than just great for the money. My copy is really excellent (most of the product shots in my gallery were done with it) and an overwhelming of my other shots as well. Its superb.

I've owned/own some pro glass that's really no better in the IQ department.

Bang for the buck, the 50 1.8 D can't be beat. Super sharp, lightweight, fast, etc. Don't leave home without it!
