My first BIF...!

Not only was I lucky enough for it to be an Osprey but I did it with a 43 year old manual focusing lens...!

Shot at Lake Aberdeen, WA USA

D7k / Vivitar (Kiron) 75-205 f3.8 Macro (Manual Focus)
@205mm / f5.6 / ISO 800 / Aperture Priority / Some cropping, light NR and sharpening

This is one of a pair that were fishing way down the other end the lake... They were too far
away to get any good shots (I tried)... While I was shooting other subjects I happened to look
up and seen this one coming across on my end of the lake... I barely had time to raise my
camera, make a quick go-for-broke attempt at focusing and fire off these four shots... These
were the only four shots I took, it was out of sight over the trees to my left and didn't come back
into view until it was back down the other end of the lake... Neither of the pair ever came to my
end of the lake again the rest of the time I was there...

I know they are not great but I think they are pretty good, all things considered...

Anyways, thanks for looking...

Congrats on the Lifer shot.
I have yet to get a shot of an Osprey to add to my archives.
One day I will.

If you have LR, you can probably recover some of the shadow areas under the wing via the shadow slider.

Thanks, Don...!

Don't have any adobe products but probably will eventually... No worries, not only was this my first
Osprey (and BIF) but I've never ever seen one in person either... It was just a good day all 'round...

William, I know how hard it is to MF birds in flight--these are excellent, 4 shots and 4 keepers--congratulations. There are many people with expensive, AF glass who could never achive this. And, btw, you'll find more Osprey if you wish--just hangout where they hunt--they'll be there. :) Best

Thanks, JT...!

Ya, now that I know there is a pair that hunt that lake I plan to return in
the future... Would be great if I could get one of those Sigmas like you
just got...
