I took the day off work (images)

  1. Instead, I got up early and puttered around the house. It started out with heavy clouds, but then the sun burst through, with that glorious early morning light.

I grabbed my D2X and 105mm micro lens and came up with this one:

Just as I was putting my camera away the Flicker showed up and she started grooming in the Garry Oak tree behind my house. I set up my tripod and lugged out the 500/4 and TC14EII and SB800. The morning light made for nifty backlighting and my fill flash took care of the rest.

My wife talked my into a walk and we saw some Ribes (not sure which kind) in fresh bloom. After fiddling around with selective focus I ended up with this one.

The walk ended up at a local pub, where this black swan was grooming himself. I will have to go back as I did not really do him justice.

I think I could get used to a time when every day is a day off work! Hope you enjoyed this little peek into roryville.
  2. I enjoyed it a lot Rory, every image is great. If your going to take a day off from work I can't think of a better way to spend it. The flicker is especially nice.
  3. Hi Gordon. I am sort of a flicker specialist I think

    You make me ill.... ;-)

We are in the middle of certification on the latest version of our software at my company, and I hardly had time to look up today, much less take pictures.... :(  I think that I'm ready for the 'every day is a day off' too.... 8)

    These are great pictures.:!: :!:

I'm glad that somebody got to do some shooting today, cause I sure didn't (won't tomorrow either   ).

  5. Sorry to hear that Frank. It will only be sweeter when you get a chance!
  6. Very cool shots Rory. I wish I could have done the same today. :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)
