A red-necked grebe, I think. We do get them over here, but they are very uncommon. Nice shot!

Or, you can shoot it just because it was there, process the image and then ask the Forum what it is?
I have probably seen one before without the breeding colors and not realized it was uncommon. Just reinforces my #1 rule in photography; if it moves shoot it and figure out what it is later.
