The man to the left of AOPAs staff photagrapher Chris Rose is Casey Haas.
He is 89 years old. He soloed at 10 years of age (before they had an age limit). During an air race in Chicago in 1930 Jimmy Doolittle spent the night at his parents house. In WW2 he was a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps and flew in the South Pacific. While he was telling his story I said "I guess your going to tell me you knew Pappy Boyington"? He said hell yes ,and even after the war Pappy visited him as well as Doolittle and many other famous aviators. He flew for American startng off with the DC 3 and retiring in 1981 in the DC10. And is a charter member of AOPA. It has been an honor to meet this man.

Meeting legends is always cool.
I have no idea who this man is (or Pappy or Doolittle), but I have met some people you wouldn't know who made my knees go wobbly... Congrats.

There's one camera brand fail in the picture. See if you can spot it. ;)
