Yeah!!!! Congrates on the lens.. Can you compare the 24mm 1.4 @2.8 against the 14-24 and 24-70 @2.8.

  5. Congrats on the new lens! Looking forward to seeing some pics from it.

Congrats!!! I'm glad to see them starting to trickle into circulation. Nothing happening in the States at the moment. I guess it will be another week or so.

  8. Congrats. Keep the pics coming, please.

  9. Why such a difference of light between the 3 pics ?

  10. you mean at f/2.8 of course - otherwise no comparison!!! lol

  11. The max shutter speed of the d3s is 1/8000, so by shooting wide open in bright sunlight, the camera had no choice but to overexpose. Check out the exif data for each of Sarheat's exposures.

    f/1.4 @ 1/8000 iso200 (overexposed by 2 stops)
    f/2.0 @ 1/8000 iso200 (overexposed by 1 stop)
f/2.8 @ 1/8000 iso200 (finally in range, so correct exposure)
    f/4.0 @ 1/4000 iso200
Note: he skipped f/5.6, but it would have been at 1/2000 iso200
    f/8.0 @ 1/1000 iso200

The Uncle with the answers, thanks Frank, we have a lot of sun down here

Did some minimum focus tests on it and man even a 5cm object behind the main focus point is gone

ill post some more tonight hopefully

Any particular tests i should do for you guys? i mean beside the one against the 14-24 and 24-70

  14. Hi Frank !

I've tried IExif, Exif Viewer, FxIf and PhotoMe (on Firefox 3.6) and none of them find any Exif datas in the images... that's why I asked ! ...in any case, I couldn't imagine that the first 2 pics had been overexposed BY THE CAMERA

Which Exif reader do you use, btw ? ...and on which program, Firefox or Windows Explorer ?

    J-P.

  15. I just followed the link to Sarheat's pbase gallery, where exif data was available for all of the pictures.

  18. I'm afraid that the 24/1.4 may not be very impressive in bright, contrasty conditions, Sarheat, but that's true of most of Nikon's ultra fast lenses. Photozone upset a lot of people by rating the legendary 85/1.4 poorly based on shooting it wide open in bright sunlight. You'll need to shoot your 24/1.4 after the sun goes down to fully appreciate its beauty.

  19. Maybe some night photography? Thanks in advance!
