Thanx Dougie, fixed it...

Well a Raid is still a RAID, however written...

Characteristics:
Very high Read data transfer rate
Very high Write data transfer rate
Disk failure has an insignificant impact on throughput
Low ratio of ECC (Parity) disks to data disks means high efficiency

Best for:
Video Production and live streaming
Image Editing
Video Editing
Prepress Applications
Any application requiring high throughput

You must be planning one heck of a disk array to get the full advantages of RAID 3 !. I's not something I've ever seen used. Normally folks run either 0, 1, 0+1 (or 1+0) or 5. You may have to hunt around a bit to find a controller that will actually support RAID 3.
I'll be interested to find out how this "beast" turns out.

Well Dougie, good things in life are not always easy to come nor to achieve... but with a little help from a friend of mine with a callsign Wizard13! (can you see the big picture here...) and lots of luck, I think will manage...

To be honest, I like RAID 3 for its performance, but my second best is RAID 10. As for the controller, I'm thinking of Adaptec SCSI RAID 2005S.

I'm providing a link below, for the rest of the members here that would like to have a point of view of what a RAID is all about.

Hi Gale,

This is a bit off the topic, but I assume you got your 24-120 Vr lens by now. How do you like it?

Thanks Bill. There's nothing worse than listening to hardware geeks. [grin, wink, grin] I'm curious too Gale.

Well, WE ARE in the Technical Discussion Forum, and what we're saying here Chris has nothing to do with geekish 01 talk but how you can have a faster, safer and more stable working station...

Hi Chris,

I don't mind listening to the hard ware geeks either. They are kind of fun. I love to have a dual processor computer if that can really shortens the processing time using NC. Oh well. Don;t think my wife would let me now, not after the D2X anyway.

To all,

I love the 24-120 VR VR VR. It is a fast focus lens.

Images have been good from this lens. I like the weight. Easy to handle.

Thank you for asking. I would recomend it.

Primes may be sharper, however, I can not always use a tripod and Vr saves the day for me.

We are not talking far fast flying birds :>)) Maybe seagulls.

Thats a kick ar$e spec alright

When making the skip to the D2X I'll have to do similarly.

I have an old Pentium III 800 mhz PC that grinds away processing NEF's
