You can do extended desktop with the Macbooks.
Linda.
There is no 'wrong' choice as far as I can tell on your choices.
Spent the most you can, you will be glad later.
Here is my vote for the 24" iMac.

Greg, I think it's your responsibility to start a thread that allows us all to post images of our dirty desks!
Be advised that some of the aluminum imacs are having a strange shutdown problem. You can read about it on the mac forums. Mine is going on one year old but the newest ones are having this issue as well.
Here is what happens. You can be browsing, working, anything and suddenly the mac shuts down as if you yanked the plug from the wall. There is no rhyme or reason for it and is not traceable to any one thing. People will say it's running hot which is false. Apple will say reinstall everything and do the newbie hoops etc. Nothing changes it.
It may not happen for weeks, days, even longer and suddenly it just does. I live with it. For the mild aggravation of restarting it's not worth taking it in and having them monkeying around not finding anything or adding to my probs. Aside from that one glitch it is all Apple ever was. Simply the best with nothing extra to buy or do.
I love Apple. Have had their stuff forever and still have a working llc and tractor drive printer.
99% of those problems have been power supplies..... no?
if so, easily replaceable
I do not know and Apple has yet to publicly say anything to my knowledge and 'till they do I am just gonna deal with this rare shutdown. I have AppleCare so no biggie but should I take it in it's going to an Apple authorized reseller. That's all his guy does and I know I won't have some here today gone tomorrow kid's at the Apple Store screwing around.
Not wanting to hijack thread, just wanted to bring up a possible issue. Never having had to suffer with brand x I am guessing that this only prob I have had with apple in
(30 yrs ?) is nothing compared to the almost daily maelstrom on the other platform
Right now, I'm only using my little MacBook but I would like a nice desktop Mac and I was hoping you guys could help me out a little since I am pretty new to the Mac world.
I shoot RAW and use CS3. But I burn a lot of DVDs by habit.
The monitor doesn't have to be huge, anything bigger than 17" feels pretty big to me.
Well, that's really all I know  and I don't even know what to look for or what all the names are..etc.
A little guidance would be appreciated, thank you.
