I resize to 1200 pixels on the long side.

I don't think the image is too large. Either way, NikonCafe s/w automatically sizes images down if the file is too large.

If your personal preferance is to post a smaller image, then re-size it before posting.

I resize all web images to 800px - proper size for downloading and offers some image protection.
