Share Images Made with Your Adapted Lens on a Nikon Z Body

I have been trying my old 28-105 AF-D f/3.5-4.5 as I was considering selling it. But to my great surprise it seems to perform extremely well on my Z6 and FTZ. I'm having a hard time seeing a difference between pictures made with it and the new 24-70S except that the old lens has less distortion.

I have nothing worth posting yet but hope to soon.

Has anyone else tried this lens on a Z-camera?

Very interesting comparison. I'm actually not familiar with that lens. I did own the 28-300 for awhile, and used it for a couple months on the Z6 before selling it. It was optically very good, but for me, it was too bulky and heavy to be a walkaround lens, which was what I envisioned its purpose to be. How is the size and handling with the 28-105/FTZ/Z6 combo?

With the FTZ it's about the same length as the 24-70/4S when the latter is rotated out to the 24mm point. I think it's a little bit lighter than the 24-70/4 and handles extremely well.

The other nice thing about the 28-105 is that it has a very useful macro mode, Of course it's MF only on the Z6 but it is stabilized!

I disagree, of course. It was the first thing I noticed when I opened the pictures on the big screen.

IBIS is one of the most compelling reasons for mirrorless, IMO. This feature plus the ability to magnify a focus target practically anywhere in the field of view has breathed new life into many an old lens for me.

Nikon Z7 with FTZ adapter 60mm AF-D micro using the Nikon slide copier kit.

This was taken in the spring of 1965. My mom is on the left, my aunt (pregnant with my oldest cousin in the center and my uncle on the right. So far I’ve used this lens to photograph over 1000 old slides. I have a box of negatives to start on next.

Nice and very good to know. You used the Nikon ES-2 Film Digitizing Adapter Set?

I've been using a Meyer-Optik Orestor 100mm f/2.8 on the Z6 sporadically for the last four months or so (some cross-posted).

This lens is really a joy to use. Everything about it feels like quality.

Looks really good, Andy. However, without a macro capability it doesn't have much appeal for me. I have a classic Nikkor 105/2.5 AIS and just never find a use for it.

I especially like #3 and #4.

After trying my 28-105 on the Z6 for some time I'm not ready to declare it as good as the native 24-70S. It is surprisingly good but lacks a little something in clarity, contrast, and color rendition by comparison.

However, the macro capability will make it a very useful hiking companion, especially during wildflower season.

classic Nikkor 105/2.5 AIS

Excellent as it is, I sold my copy of that lens about two years ago. I think it is very similar to the Meyer-Optik in usage, equal in sharpness but perhaps less contrasty. Now I wish I could test it side-by-side.

For a compact kit I use a Voigtlander 35mm/1.4 with a Fotodiax adaptor on my Z7. A delightful combination.
