Mine too, though I'm not sure where---I do know he was in the middle east for a while.

Mine was in France with the all Black 520th Engineer Service Battalion

We're a military family!
I served 24yrs USAF myself....and my father did 4.

I had an uncle that drove a supply truck in the Red Ball Express in WW-2, and another uncle that served in the USMC in Korea....

My grandfather, who I knew well, also served during WW1. He emigrated from Italy at about 8 years old and was processed at Ellis Island. (Long after he died, I stood on the same steps there he had to have walked on.) The Army sent him to Italy during the war, perhaps because he was fluent in Italian. Fortunately, he lived a long life after the war.

I mean Menen, on the road to Tourcoing. Diksmuijde is also very interesting.
Wrote an article many years ago, when the Minerva club did a battlefield tour.
The 2 and a half years I lived in Pittem and worked in Roeselaere or Kortrijk I was never out of sight of some white crosses. It is quite depressing. Farmers still find bones when plowing deep.

No, never made it Menen nor to Diksmuijde or Kortijk. We did meet up with Bart and his wife Marion, while we were in Bruges. I know I will be back. So much to see and understand and experience.
