In need of a Manicure (or maybe pedicure)

  1. The talons on these guys are just incredible. I decided to try something a bit different and decided on B&W. Let me know what you think.

  2. Fred, that is so perfect, just this side of a silhouette and so well rendered in B&W. The wing tips are perfectly located and I love the black band of negative space above.

  3. Very nice Fred, I like the B&W rendition.
  4. Beautiful! B&W is perfect for it.

First, a terrific shot! Perfect timing! However, to me, critical detail/visibility of the eye area has been lost. I'm also not a big fan of grain, but that's a personal problem! LOL!
  7. High praise indeed! Thanks Nick - I'm glad you like it.

    Thanks Louie.

thanks Phil - I agree, the B&W works here.

Karen - you may be right about the eye. The grain, I'm keeping. Thanks for the suggestion - I kind of felt the eye was too dark initially and then went with it anyway. See below for version 2.
  8. Version 2, with the eye area lightened up a bit. Everything else is the same.

Much better, at least to my eyes.

  10. Ah, it put a gleam in your eyes! :ROFLMAO:
  11. It's a fantastic shot and talk about talons, wow.
  12. This is a really exciting shot, I agree with Karen, the eye fix makes it a better shot.

Certainly highlights the talons but I'm not really a fan of B&W wildlife, there are a few exceptions but for me colour helps make a wildlife shot. :)
  14. What an awesome shot, very special and different, I'm with Karen on the grain.
  15. Thanks, I agree. I got the same suggestion on FM as well.

Nick - you are quick with the wit!

Thanks Gordon. I would hate to be on the receiving end of those.

Thanks Georgie. Oh, and you too Alexis. :)

Well - that's why I post them - to get others opinions; it would be boring if we all agreed all the time.

Thanks Darrell - appreciate it. We'll have to agree to disagree on the grain. :)
  16. My thoughts exactly, plus the low angle is a nice touch.
  17. Fred this shot works very well. Perfect timing and great PP work as well.
  18. Thank you guys. I appreciate the feedback.
