First day out with the new sony a1. Lots and lots to learn, but got a couple of nice images.
Mama coming in to feed the fledglings.

Thanks all!!
I played with a lot of the settings.
BIF zone worked better so far than wide. I had bird eye autofocus activated for most of the time. Not sure it is really any better on large slow birds than wide.
It was, however, able to find and focus on small birds surrounded by reeds and grass. As soon as I could actually see an eye, so did the camera.
The a7riv was almost never successful in these cases- even point autofocus would grab the reeds.
Silent shooting is too weird, so although I shot with both mechanical and electronic shutter I needed some audio feedback it was actually doing something.
Still have a while to go with this camera before it feels right.

Niiiiice!!!!!! I'm eager to see how the bird eye focus works, especially on the smaller birds. Yeah, I'm not too crazy about shooting in silent shutter mode, either -- like you, I want to have that audible indication that I actually did shoot an image. Do you have to use silent shutter / electronic shutter mode when using bird eye focus or some of the other new functions?

They aren't the most graceful of birds. Nice done!
