Setup of Photo #1
Similar to the setup of Photo #2 shown below but not exactly the same. Both setups used the same piece of charcoal presentation paper for both the tabletop and background. In Photo #1, the lamp on the left was positioned differently to light only the left area of the background. In Photo #1, the lamp on the right lit everything except that left area of the background. A black flag on the right not used in Photo #2 prevented an unwanted reflection from appearing on the right side of the subject.

Setup of Photo #2 (displayed in the photo below)
The white reflector brightened the inlaid details of the subject on the left to be more similar to the brightness of the inlaid details of the subject on the right. The gradient shadow in the top of the subject on the right was added during post-processing to help convey its curved shape.
