I got a little glassy eyed reading the technical explanations, but I might just give this a try. Especially since I already have both the eraser and the tape.

I read that too and want to try it, but I have neither eraser nor tape so I will have to make a shopping trip. Have you tried it yet? Conclusions?

I have a "digital grey card" which I have used with some success but I recently acquired an XWrite Color Checker to generate custom WB profiles for my cameras. I find that solution to be much more accurate than a simple grey card, though not as convenient.

Jim - no I haven't tried it yet, but I do use a WiBal card which works pretty well. One of these days, I will give the eraser/tape method a try, if only to throw one into all of my bags rather than remembering to grab the WiBal card each time I go out. That card works pretty well, but is preposterously expensive considering what it is.
