An old classmate of mine is on the crew of the very last space shuttle mission and I was invited to the launch. Woohoo! It's high risk because it could slip and I can't stay that long but I really want to go. Had a similar opportunity earlier with a different classmate in 97 (also Atlantis) but it was a night launch.

This one is a day launch so if I go I hope to get good pictures!

If you can go, do it. I've seen 2 launches, one night and one day and it was one of the most spectacular events i've ever witnessed.

"Good Luck, we're all counting on you."

Problem is I live in Vegas...long trip. Plus, you pretty much have to plan on a week stay because you can't count on the launch to be on schedule. Not cheap, and with a kid starting college in the fall, dollars are tight.

That said, I'm doing everything in my power to go. Hoping a 300/4 on a 1.4 TC with monopod will be enough gear...
