My daughter is an avid Macophile, but last week had a problem with downloading files from a video camera to her MacBook Pro. I'll let her describe it in her own words:
"Here's what happened. I was getting ready to video an event, so the night before I plugged in my Flip camera to my MacBook Pro, and iPhoto automatically opened to import the videos. It seemed to import all the videos from the camera; it took about 5 minutes and flashed the thumbnails on the screen as it was in process. After iPhoto had (presumably) imported all the videos, it asked if I wanted to keep or delete the originals from the camera. Although I usually don't have iPhoto delete my videos, this time I was in a bit of a rush and figured I'd save a step by having iPhoto delete them this time, so I clicked "delete originals." Immediately afterward, iPhoto shut down with the error message "the application iPhoto has unexpectedly quit. Would you like to report the problem to Apple?" I said no, and then re-opened the program to review my videos, and found that they weren't in the iPhoto library (I looked under "last import" and "events"). I unplugged the Flip camera and checked it, and the videos were no longer there either.
Can anyone help me find these lost videos? As far as I can tell, iPhoto doesn't catalog photos and video files in a way that is easily accessible outside of the program (i.e. through Finder). I have not done any further imports into iPhoto since this incident.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much."
Can any of you knowledgeable Mac folks help her out?
