An excellent buy, in my opinion.
  2. Well congratulations on your new lens as I see you have the winning bid...

Both DC lenses are excellent, and it seems like you got yours for a great price. Enjoy, and don't forget to post examples when you get it.

This lens is known for bad copies. Hope you get a good copy and if you do, this is certainly one of the best portrait lenses along with 85/1.4. I paid $500 for my copy (bad) then ended up returning it to the store. Good luck!

Sorry, but that's just not true. Calling a copy that has a DC calibration issue a "bad" copy is putting an undeserved mark on this lens. Often times, the lens is perfectly usable if the owner finds the DC setting that gives the best results. The reason that you hear about DC calibration issues is because people are often more likely to complain about an issue than to praise a non-issue, and people also fret about buying a copy with an improperly calibrated DC control. Both this lens and the 135 DC are among Nikon's best lenses, and are also under-rated when compared to lenses like the 85 1.4 and 180 2.8.
