Has anyone seen how high of ISO the D200 is suppose to have?
I thought I might have read 800 somewhere, which is way to low. They will have 1 or maybe 2 sold to me if they do at least 1600 if not higher.
  2. "jeff_c" or whatever his moniker is mentioned 100-800, just like the D2X.

Here is hoping he was wrong on that account. He has been right on everything else, though, so far.

If they achieve about 20D or so grade high ISO, which should be possible, I will toss my 5D and buy one lickety split. D50 grade high ISO would be dreamy.

I thought the 100-800 range was quoted from those bogus D2x-lite specs that were floating around that listed the 12mp CMOS sensor. All the speculation tied to the CCD predictions that I've seen indicated 100-1600 with HI1/3200.
  4. For mono-linguists like me, here's an Alta Vista translation of the specs related to ISO:

One characteristic fundamental of the Nikon D200 è the new sensor of image CCD in format Nikon DX from 10,2 megapixel effective, in a position to capturing endowed images of one clearness and one fedeltà to the colors exceptional, with dimensions of acquisition of 3.872 x 2,592 pixel: a such resolution to concur blowups meant you of the images and to guarantee greater libertà for ritagli created to you. The new sensor to high sensibilità covers one range of values ISO from 100 - 1600, until 3200 in Hi-1.

Where's the iso 6400 (HI-2) as on the D100. I know it's ugly golf-ball sized grain, but there have been times under dim incandescent light I have put this to good use. It looks like the D100 may continue to reign as the speed champ of digital cameras.
  6. I just talked with the sales manager of Adorama, a really nice guy by the name of Martino Corto. He's started a waiting list for the d200, just in case Nikon announces such a camera . If you'd like to get on it, email him at

No credit card is necessary. It just means you'll be eligable to buy a d200 if and when one is available for you. Include your full name and mailing address, and say that Uncle Frank sent you.
  7. Hopefully everyone has seen the specs by now, 100-1600 plus Hi-1, going to 3200. What I find very interesting is that Hi-1 comes in 3 flavors, "about" 2000, "about" 2500 and 3200. No 6400, but it I need that, I always have the compensation dial. Now I just need to know how fast the AF is.............
