So... I just started seeing some local images of Hummingbirds (in the area) this week. I cleaned my hummingbird feeders, mixed up some sugarwater, bought & placed another feeder pole yesterday.

This morning, when I went to let the dog out, low & behold we had a visitor! :)

We did our planned things this morning & I grabbed a camera & went out back with a fresh cup of coffee. By this time, it was already 10:30, but what the heck, it's been dead for so long I didn't care. In an hour or so, I saw at least three different hummers. A couple Ruby-throated & one other that was really small - like 1.5" or shorter, head to tail feather. I couldn't get a shot of him, as he was really skittish.

Here's a couple. Finally, I have some current shots!

My 1st "Fall (coming) Hummer Shot" this season.

Thanks Nick, I bet you're right.

I just looked it up and the one I saw did have a bright orange gorget, so that stands to reason.
I'm gonna make it my mission to photograph him. :)

Still looking thru this AM's images...

I'm not a huge feeder-shot fan but I'm just so tickled to have something to more "normal" (for me) to photograph.

Really nice shots.
Happy with this returns for you.
Maybe more to come! 😉

Thanks a bunch, Boblou. It's a sign of good things to come - one of my favorite times of year. I will be watching these fellas for a bit and then more variety will come.

Nicely done. finally got your hummers. Have fun with them..

Thanks Bob, I appreciate you send them back our way! ;-)

I am jealous- have a blast!
Me, I would push the iso as high as I could to get more shutterspeed, but it all depends on the look you want to capture.
Gary

Apprecaited, Gary. I will play with many looks over the coming weeks. :)

An amazing Morning! Well done!

Thank you very much. It was a joy!

I'm happy for you that you were able to get out and enjoy photographing what you love!! I'm happy that I got to see these beautiful images.

Thanks so much, Terri. First seeing some posts from other local shooters, then putting the feeders out and having guests the following morning.... Doesn't get a whole lot better than that!

Terrific job with these Phil.

I certainly appreciate it, Louis.

Now I just need to get some nice shots of the tiny ones and when I say tiny, I mean 1/2 the length of a Ruby Throated ans smaller in diameter than my pinky finger.

I've now seen a group of three of these guys. One of them flew up to me, within about 4ft of my face and had a look at me. Sadly, they move so fast & he well closer than MFD.

Patience.... Heck, it's just fun to watch.

I got a couple shots of one of the little guys this morning. They are not great, but it's a start. They look very similar to the Ruby-Throated, but they are WAY smaller.

While not perfect, the following two shots give a little reference to the size difference. It's not as obvious in this comparison as it is to the naked eye, but you can compare the hummers sizes to the size of the feeder flowers.
