Thanks to Microsoft's Live Search and J&R's rep, my new tool for this old tool arrived today! I'm stoked!!! Tomorrow I'll put it thru it's paces.

Have fun....Let us know how it performs in 100+ degree heat....
  4. Congratulations Larry...
Your gonna have a lot of fun....
Look forward to seeing some shots from it....
  5. Good luck with your new toy...You'll love it!
  6. Let the fun begin!!!!

And let the learning curve start. Do yourself a favor and buy one of the many books on the D300. The manual tells you what the different buttons/gadgets do but the books tell you what happens and why.

But, above all, just enjoy the heck out of the camera. I have two D300s and like my kids (now grown) I have to make sure I treat them the same.

Thanx everyone! I'm going on a little excursion this morning and am hoping I'll have some pics worthy of posting later today.

    1st impressions of the D300...

    1) perfect size (for me) the AF-On button is right where it should be
    2) love the Custom Shooting Banks, have 2 programmed so far, 1 for Sports and one for Street

I'm sure I'll have many more after today!

So far without shooting much I'd say it's a very big upgrade from the D80.
  13. congrats, larry
    i'm very happy for you

i can't wait to see the pictures... good luck

From the D80? I'd say you've traveled at least a few light years ahead. Enjoy...

  15. Congratulations! You'll love it! It's an amazing improvement from the D80.

Thanx Greg...the D300 is a joy to use! Now I've got to get used to the difference in metering from the D80.

Thanx Doug! Reading posts didn't really do justice as to how much more advanced the D300 is, but now that I have one in hand I can begin to appreciate it.

Thanx Sonya, I couldn't agree more!

Sorry to hear about that, but if you don't have one already, just do it...you won't be sorry!
