It's basically the same exact thing as iView Media Pro 3.x except it's been modified for a more "Phase One" look and feel, integrates with Phase One's higher level products, added XMP side car support, and fixed a catalog file size limitation. The internal guts and "plumbing" are still there and pretty much unchanged from iV3, including the internal and woefully inadequate editing capabilities.
At least it didn't immediately crash on me, so that's an improvement from the M$ ownership.
Nothing much for me so I guess I'll keep plugging away in the original.
Run away, run away!.
I was dumb enough to buy this as soon as Phase One sent the announcement.
It was before morning coffee, and I've been waiting on an improvement for so long. Anyway, its not that great.
First, rendering is slow. I mean really slow.
Photo Mechanic renders NEF files quicker than Media Pro can render the jpeg thumbnails.
A lot of folks were complaining about the UI. It is a bit distracting, but I'm sure it can/will be easily remedied in an update.
On the plus side the file size restriction is more generous.
I'm sure some things will be improved upon, but its not ready for prime time.
