Also, as you look at these, please examine the quality. Do these look as sharp as my others? I shot these at f/22 to get greater DOF. I did suffer some diffraction but I personally didn't think it was enough to be very noticable. So, can you tell a drop in sharpness on these from my other photos? If so, is it a small enough amount to where the trade-off in sharpness is worth it for the increase in DOF?

Don't include the two below in your sharpness examination. These are more for your enjoyment of a cool jumper hanging out on my Nikon D5000.

Oh, and for what it's worth (in comparing to the others). #1 & 2 were shot at f/13. All others were shot at f/22.

Thanks Ted. I was using the Tamron 180mm f3.5, Kenko Pro 300 1.4TC, and 20mm extension tube.

I do some stacking and actually I have 4 images of a head on shot that I still need to align and stack. Stacking is just such a pain with 180mm and 2:1 magnification handheld. I can do it, but it would just be easier to shoot a higher aperture.....but obviously I'm trading off quality.

Yeah, give me a few minutes and I will try to stack the one and compare to the ones above and see if it's worth the effort.

Definitely worth it. I love the DOF and wish I could get this with a single shot (in a dream world...right?)

Love your images. By stacking 3 images, do you mean you took 3 images with a different focus point and then merged them together? Photoshop or what s/w? That must be hard if the critters move at all.

Thank you Karen. Yes, for stacking I took three images...one with the focus on the front section of the legs, one for the back section of the legs, and one for the face area. For subject movement...you have to work quickly. I probably did all 3 shots within a 5-6 second span. I use a program called CombineZP to combine the three images and get one image with full focus.

I think #5 looks the closest to this last one. I'm amazed you get these handheld. Great series!
