That is an awesome capture of a killdeer Gary. You aint kidding about the heat. It won't be too much longer and we will have fall upon us to go out and shoot.
  9. Suppose to be close to 100 F here today, May get out for a hour or so this morning, but afternoons are out. The birds just don't move either.

    Thanks Jimmy
  10. It's a beauty, Gary. 100F, that's HOOOT!

Gary - cool picture. I'm 45 and have seen these most of my life, but never that good. Normally, flying away or flying around a field. It was nice to see. Thanks!
  15. Thanks Dianne

She has been around for quite a while.

  16. Thanks David

At a normal shooting site there are many of them around.

  17. I don't find them to be a very shy bird, Most of the time they will approach you if you just sit quiet. They are more of a ground running bird and only fly when they feel threatened.

Thank You very much and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I guess I should clarify. When I was younger I saw these all the time. Usually as I was riding my dirt bike as fast as I could around the edges of the cotton / soy bean fields. They may not be shy but they wouldn't stand still as a lunatic teen screamed by!
  19. Hey Gary

Great story, I'm not sure it would be possible to get close on a dirt bike.

Thanks for the info, Loved it and got a good chuckle!!!:biggrin:
