Hi

Just wanted to share with friends, some recent events which have reduced my involvement and activity with the forum.

Some time ago I was asked to take some photographs of a 10 piece local band, which specialised in Northern Soul and Soul music etc. Having played in a fairly successful band myself, but not for the past 20+ years, I was delighted to be able to help. I took a set of photos during their rehearsals which I also made into a little promotional video for them, featuring them playing etc. My interest in music was re-kindled hearing the band rehearse.

The band played on 2nd February 2019 and unexpectedly and very sadly, the guitarist, having enjoyed a great gig, went home and suffered a fatal heart attack.

My photos are therefore one of the last recent photographic records of the band.

However, to my amazement and delight, I was approached to see if I would, after all these years, come out of musical retirement and join the band, starting with a gig to commemorate the life of the guitarist: one of the nicest people you could wish to meet.

I am therefore frantically catching up with playing guitar again and rehearsals start on Monday. My fingers don’t move like they used to but getting there.

So I just wanted to share with friends my little slideshow which I hope you like and which is attached below.

And please....wish me luck with my new venture.

Very best wishes

Ray

What a great tribute! And I LOVE the music!!!!!! Well done!

What a thrill to do a stint with the band! Probably will be sweeter the second time around!

Pretty much says it all. Having enjoyed your passion for still smudges over the years, I am sure your musical revival will be enjoyed by many!

Best wishes in your new endeavor!! What fun to get to revisit old flames! And what luck to have captured an important time in the life of this band.
Hi Urbanflyer...yes....really lucky to have done so ...but such sad circumstances...still coming out of retirement at 70 will be fun...LOL

Thank you Don....strange really....my passion for music was lost when I finished playing all those years ago.....this rekindled interest BUT I would have much preferred happier circumstances etc....However, really looking forward to playing again now...

Wow, this is exciting news, Ray! Congratulations to you on your new venture! Really nice photos in the slideshow -- and the music, ah the music!!! I've long been a lover of Soul music....just nothing like it! The first song was unfamiliar to me, but that second one, oh, yes, that's a real classic! :)
Thank you Connie...

Yes music from a great era so looking forward to it...

Many thanks...
Best wishes Ray

Looks like you had been playing with them the past 25 years instead of just joining, Ray! (y)
