While planning our fall trip, I realized that we would be staying overnight about 10 minutes away from the Kansas State Capitol! We spent a delightful morning there before continuing on our travels. I highly recommend visiting there if you get in the area!

  2. That is a beautiful rotunda. Thanks for sharing

  3. Nice image...

As you know, I've visited nearly all of the capitols--only missing Juneau from a photography perspective (but visited it before undertaking this project). It took me a while to see Kansas because it was under major renovation work during my first two attempts. I did visit the capitol once the work was completed...and it is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the comments! I love the image....BUT.....I feel the colors are a bit off. I've tried processing it with various s/w and settings, but will give it another go. There IS a lot of copper accents, but I think the upper walls should be lighter.

  7. Honestly, only you would know for sure. Having never seen this discuss outside of your picture, I like it as is. You process it however you feel best represents it.

So I took the liberty of comparing your image to Glenn's, and I personally think you got the colors spot on. The only difference I'm seeing is that your image is more of a close up. Other than that, I think it's fine...

  9. Stunning architecture. Great capture.

Appreciate it. Perhaps it was the deep shadows that skew the tones a bit dark.
Geez! Comparing a photo of mine to Glenn's ????? NO mercy! But I have to confess that on this trip I shot several locations after which I went to Glenn's website to compare how I did!!!!! He is definitely the GOLD standard of architectural photography!
Thanks, Walter. I sure appreciate the encouragement!
    Thank you!

Well, as others have said only you (really) know the colors, BUT I'd hazard it's either your whitebalence or possibly the light itself (tinted windows, maybe?) I know you have good color perception and are very careful sp those are my guesses, in any case simply lovely!

I shoot raw, so I have adjusted the WB several different ways. I use a color calibrated monitor and a custom camera color profile I created for my D850. So I guess since I can't change the color temp and make it better..... that's a sign that it IS about as accurate as I can get it!

  14. Very impressive shot Karen!

ANOTHER posting that has magically disappeared! I must be losing it....

Anyway, I just HAD to try again with this image. Here is the re-do. The dome was really pretty bright and I think this one is much closer to "reality" as I remember it!
