As the title says, this was my first real try with an insect. Luckily this fella held still for quite awhile before getting bored with me. It would help if I had a true Macro lens, but that will be awhile.

    Thanks Tom and Rich.

Tom - These were shot with the D70s, Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro (in Macro Mode) handheld. Exif should still be in the photos but from what I remember, I was shooting f/8, 1/500th, with a SB-600 + Stofen Diffuser off camera. Now that I've told you you can probably see where the flash placement was.

  5. Very nice shots. You and the Sigma produced very good results. I would be happy with them.

Nice work, I can't get over how leaf-like it looks in no1.

Thanks again everybody. I was also amazed by his eyes and how they're half yellow, half green. You can never see that with the human eye (at least I can't).
